The Face Shop Real Nature Mask (Pomegranate)

What does it do: A mask sheet with pomegranate extract (rich in Vitamin B1&B2). Gives elasticity and a "glossy" look.

How much: I recall I bought this at Php 65-75

Instructions: Apply toner on face prior to use. Apply mask for 15-20 minutes. Gently pat excess essence into skin until absorbed.

Amount: 20ml

Over the past few years, sheet masks have been becoming more and more popular thanks to the rise in  Korean beauty/skin care trends. I've tried a great number of sheet masks myself (I have a couple of reviews on this blog), but I had never tried one from The Face Shop until now.

What surprised me the most about this mask, was the great quality of the mask itself! It felt amazing to touch, and was neither too thin or too thick. It felt so luxurious while it was on and adhered to my face well. I was also happy to find that the nose portion was long enough to cover my nose, as I have a problem with other Korean masks being too short and only covering half my nose. Actually, the fit of the entire mask was perfect for my face (take note I have quite a long face) and was just comfortable to have on.

The essence had a wonderful berry scent that mostly reminded me of grape juice. It didn't smell like pomegranate to me, but no complaints as it smelled very nice. The essence was quite light (it wasn't too thick) and absorbed into my skin easily. My face felt very refreshed afterward, but I noticed no immediate effect or change in my skin after application. The next day though, I did notice that my skin was smooth and glowing.

Packaging - 5/5
Price - 4/5
Effect - 4/5
Smell - 5/5
Overall - 3.6/5

I feel that other masks can give the same effect or better and for a lesser price. The quality of the mask sheet however, is amazing and definitely a great selling point.

Will I repurchase?
I think I would, though perhaps more for the mask sheet itself rather than the essence. I'm kind of 50-50 on this.

What do you think? Have you tried masks from The Face Shop? Love to hear your thoughts!

Empties: 2015 Make up Products

Hey Everyone!

Whew, where did the year go?! I knew I was supposed to finish this like ages ago, but life always seems to overwhelm me during the last few months of the year.

Anyway, I may as well get on with finishing this empties series with the last post on makeup:

1. ELF Eyelid Primer (Sheer) - If you want an inexpensive eye shadow primer that keeps the color on your lids lasting all day, then this one's for you. This primer is easy to apply, dries quickly and gets the job done. It's not the best primer out there, but heck - it works.

2. Etude House Dear My Milky Gloss (BE101) - I bought this since I wanted a nude gloss for days when I would wear a natural look. I liked it, though the texture was a bit sticky. It applied very sheer - more than I had expected. But the smell guys, it smelled AMAZING kind of like candy!! As time went by though, I found myself reaching for it less and when I found it again, it had already gone bad :/

3. Maybelline Baby Lips (Soothing Cherry) - I mentioned before that I had a bad allergic reaction to Chapstick a few years back (mentioned that story here) and because of that I'm a bit more cautious when buying lip balm since certain ingredients tend to trigger my allergy. This product did not cause me any problems with my allergy, but at the same time did not really moisturize my lips. I felt that it made my lips a little greasy feeling - like putting oil on top but it never absorbed into my lips. It might just be because of my allergy, but yeah..

4. Nichido Color Eyes Mascara and Eyeliner - This 2 in 1 product had me excited when I found it since it was so cheap! Upon trying it, I found that both were of pretty good quality. The liquid liner was great - the felt brush was thin and gave very precise lines. The mascara was not clumpy and gave a good amount of volume.

5. Etude House Dear My Darling Lipstick (PP903) - I remember that this was the first product I had ever bought at Etude. It was a pretty muted mauve color. I really liked it and I'm sad that it was discontinued.

6. Etude House Nail Polish (Matte) - This is another old Etude product, I believe it was also discontinued. I don't remember the line of this nail polish but I remember it was one of the first ones. This one was a matte finish nude polish. It was very pretty and different from the usual glossy finishes. But since it was matte, I found that it dried up/got gunky pretty quickly.

7. Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner (Brown) - One of my favorite eyeliners! I love love love this so much. I've posted a review on this over here. I've already bought myself a new one :D

And that's it! Finally done with my empties series for 2015 :) I really hope to post more during this year. I'm making that one of my goals for 2016. Do you guys have any goals for this year? Leave a comment about it!

Thank you so much for dropping by and I hope you enjoyed reading!

Press Release: Heads up! Gary V on Novuhair: putting energy into prevention

Nothing describes Gary Valenciano quite like his moniker “Mr. Pure Energy,” He is the very image of youthful vibrance, whether onstage or not. That’s why it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he values the way he looks the same way that he values the core of who he is: a prayerful, faithful husband, dependable father, and an outstanding entertainer.

Part of what makes Gary stay young looking is his head of hair. What many people don’t know is that, like all other men his age, Gary once worried about hair thinning and hair loss. That’s why, at the first signs of the problem, Gary sought to find ways to prevent it from becoming worse.
“I first noticed the hair loss in the shower, after I toweled my hair dry. Then one day, my team of hairstylists noticed that my hair was thinning, too. That’s when they told me to look for the product that Fanny Serrano was using, a product called NOVUHAIR,” remarked Gary on his journey to regaining control over his hair loss.
NOVUHAIR is a topical scalp lotion that is a unique combination of 14 different natural ingredients and essential oils for a healthier hair and scalp. One of the factors of hair loss, according to studies, is stress, something that Gary experiences on almost a daily basis. Other factors include hereditary disorders, a persistent illness, major surgery, hormonal problems, childbirth & delivery, medications, infections, pollutants, and even excessive exposure to sunlight. And contrary to popular belief, hair loss is as much a problem for women as it is for men. In many cases, hair loss may be prevented or alleviated through early detection. In the case of Gary, his decision to try NOVUHAIR to prevent his symptoms from worsening made a big difference, and within a few months, he saw remarkable results.
Gary shares his experience with NOVUHAIR as he tells the story of their family hair history: “Hair loss runs in our family, too, even if it sometimes skips a generation. My brother and grandfather both lost their hair, but my dad still has a full head of hair at 87. I just wanted to make sure I take control of my symptoms. Now, I use NOVUHAIR everyday, and I’ve noticed that I don’t shed as much hair as I did before, especially after toweling my hair dry. And my hairstylists noticed it, too. I love using NOVUHAIR because it has this minty, cool effect that makes me feel like my hair is always clean and fresh.”

“In less than a month and half, I already saw results even if I was told to wait three to four months before I can see a difference. The effects on me were much faster. There were fewer strands on my white towel, which basically was within the normal boundaries of hair loss for an average person. Before using NOVUHAIR, I used to shed more.” This is due to the fact that NOVUHAIR penetrates deep to help rejuvenate, nourish, & maintain moisture in the scalp and hair. By improving the blood circulation in the scalp, NOVUHAIR helps stimulate hair growth and aid in preventing further, excessive hair fall, while also improving the overall appearance of the hair.

“I never endorse a product that I did not experience first. I have to make sure it is really effective. With Novuhair, I can say that it has really contributed to my peace of mind and overall well-being. And, heads up, as Novuhair is now part of my daily routine, which includes prayer, diet, and medication. God has truly lived up to his promise in my life, and as he says in Psalm 92:14 ‘I will keep you fruitful even in old age. Fresh and green.’ I am very happy now that Novuhair is a part of that.”

NOVUHAIR, Nature’s Answer to Hair Loss is available in all Mercury Drug outlets, Watsons, Rose Pharmacy, South Star Drug & Manson Drug, Metro Gaisano Pharmacy, The Landmark (Makati & TriNoma), J Centre Mall (Cebu), KCC Malls (Gen. 2 of my favorite sunglasses brands

While in other countries the temperature is dropping as they head into the winter months, over here in the Philippines it's as hot as ever. Though it normally isn't that hot around this time of year, the El NiƱo weather pattern has kept the sun shining bright and so glaringly happy that it's hard to leave the house without a pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes.

Hey guys!

I know it's been a while since my last post. October was a really hectic month that just plowed right through without leaving me anytime to get personal things done. But anyway, today I'd like to share with you two of my favorite sunglasses brands.

In recent years, I would often go for cheap sunglasses (that don't really have good quality) since I was always afraid of losing or breaking an expensive pair of sunglasses. I've made do with what I could find in random department stores until I discovered Sunnies Studios. Since visiting their store and seeing their many (affordable!) and cute designs, I haven't gone back to those cheap sunglasses since. I bought the Corey design and I absolutely love it! My boyfriend also owns a pair of their Robbie shades. Even my sister and her boyfriend love this brand (though I'm not quite sure which design they use).

We bought ours at their stall in Robinsons Magnolia (whose staff were super friendly! <3). They have a whole list of their stores on their Facebook about page which I'll link here.

You can also buy these shades online through Zalora. I was even able to find both the Corey and Robbie designs which I will link below for anyone interested:

Corey: link here. This is even the exact color I have!

Another good brand for sunglasses that I would recommend is Oakley. If you're looking for a hardcore pair of sunglasses to use while doing outdoorsy activities, or if you just want a pair that wont easily get damaged, this is the brand for you.

I used to have a pair that I really really loved but I can't, for the life of me, find them! :( It breaks my heart since they are pricier than most sunglasses and they were my favorite. Losing them was actually why I started buying cheap sunglasses in the first place; I couldn't cope with the loss lol.

I do remember buying my pair at Greenbelt, but you can also buy Oakley over at Zalora (the glory of online shopping really). Check out ZALORA's collection of unisex Oakley shades over at their website :)

I'm really liking their Enduro design and the Frogskins one. No, I don't care if they're supposedly male designs, I think I could work them ;)

What are your favorite brands of sunglasses? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks for reading :)

Empties: 2015 Body Products

Hi Everyone!

Continuing from where I left off with the last Empties post, here are the body products I was able to use up so far.

1. The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Morocco (Black Olive and Argan Oil Scrub) - I've had this for AGES. It was one of the first products I got from The Body Shop. I loved this product so much I avoided using it unless I had a special occasion. I have a love/hate relationship with the smell, but darn does this thing work well. No matter how many scrubs I've tried, nothing compares.

2. Human Nature Hand and Foot Salve (Strawberry) - I loved the smell of this, it really smelled like fresh strawberries! It did a pretty good job of moisturizing my hands and feet, but tended to become a bit sticky if not rubbed in well. It's all natural so you would also need to pay attention to the expiration date. (Warning: it stinks when expired)

3. Watsons Sakura Bella Hand and Body Lotion - I didn't like this much as the smell was faint and the consistency too watery for me. Won't be repurchasing.

4. Olay Body Wash (Age Defying - Revitalizing) - This is one of the BEST body washes I have ever tried. You only need a little for your whole body and it doesn't dry your skin out. It smells good and makes you feel clean. I cannot say enough good things about this and I do look forward to trying more variants. (I posted quick review on another Olay body wash here)

5. Body Treats Anti Bacterial Hand Soap (Sweet Pea) - This was a lovely smelling hand soap. The only thing I did not like about this was the packaging. I always prefer a pump for hand soap, rather than a normal bottle. I don't want to have to hold the bottle; my hands are dirty!

6. Dove Go Fresh Nourishing Body Wash (Energize - Grapefruit & Lemongrass) -  I had very high hopes for this product as it was from Dove and I really like their shampoo. I was disappointed to discover that I had to use a lot of product to make it lather well :( The scent was very invigorating though.

7. Marks and Spencer Hand and Body  Lotion (White Peach and Almond) - This is an ancient bottle of my favorite scent from Marks & Spencer. It was a gift from my godparents from god knows when. I had actually forgotten I had it until I found it at the very back of my dresser cabinet. I love love love the scent of this and was surprised to find that the consistency hadn't changed so I used what was left on my hands (okay maybe eww because it's old but don't judge me k? hahaha). This lotion - as with other lotions from this brand - absorbs well into the skin. The scent lingers for quite some time too! My sister already bought me another bottle of this <3

8. Watsons Exfoliating Body Scrub (Cucumber Melon) - If I were to base my review of this on scent alone, this is awesome. It smells so refreshing and clean and urgh - I love it. As a scrub though, I don't think it did much for me. I needed to use a lot of product to get a decent amount of scrubbies to scrub with (do you get me), so I ended up finishing this pretty quickly. I would buy this maybe just for my hands or something, but for a full body scrub I'd just go with Body Shop.

That's it for this post! I'll be back next time with the last empties post I have lined up - make up! :) Thank you for reading~

A lovely surprise from BDJ and Olay Philippines~

Hi everyone!

Early last week I was surprised at work with a package from BDJ, and I was very excited to see that it was a little bag with goodies from Olay! (yes, I totally rhymed)

Now, I have always been a fan of Olay products as I use their body washes, moisturizers and eye creams. You can even view one of my recent empties posts wherein I used up my favorite moisturizer ;)

The little bag contained a full size of their Deep Moisture Body Wash which I was so so excited to try since I loved their Age Defying Moisturizing Body Wash (empties on that coming up soon). It also came with a sample size of their Total Effects Day Cream.

I'm a total body wash junkie; I've tried so many body washes - yet so far nothing comes close to the quality of Olay! Their Deep Moisture Body Wash lathers so well, even better than some more expensive body washes. A pea size amount was enough for my whole body, which means that 200ml will last quite a while. Using this also left my skin feeling super smooth and clean at the same time. I felt like I didn't need to put lotion anymore, which is really something since my skin (especially my legs) tends to get a bit dry. And did I mention the scent? I just can't get over how good this smells! It's like a clean fruity floral scent that's so feminine and amazing!

I'm no stranger to the Total Effects line from Olay since I have been using their eye cream for a while, but I had never tried the day cream before now. I was surprised to find that the Total Effects Day Cream had a scent, since the Olay moisturizer I use (All in One Fairness Day Cream) does not have a strong scent. Not complaining though, as it smells really nice (slightly powdery but not overwhelmingly so) and scented products do not bother me. This day cream did not disappoint as it absorbed into my skin quickly and left no sticky or oily feeling at all. My face was smooth to touch and felt very moisturized. The SPF factor is always a plus and the fact that this cream also has anti-ageing properties? Sure A+ rating in my book.

Overall, I am very very happy with these products and will definitely go out to purchase these myself when I run out. Thank you to BDJ and Olay for the chance for me to "Be my Best Beautiful"!
